My last post may have surprised some readers as it isn't just a summary of the trip but a summary of my life so far, very well celebrated with this magnificent tour. The post was much more personal than others - but heck, what the hell. I'm glad you paid tribute to the band, as well as Mark. They are such an inspiring group of top notch musicians, and nice guys to boot.

All the best to you. Man, you delivered. You said a lot, but one of the small things that revealed much about your character was your ambivalence about actually meeting MK. If it happened great, but you weren't going to force yourself on him - even when you were in the same room at the M&G. I feel the same way. For me MK has always held a special place in my heart because of the beautiful and reflective music he writes - almost as if he has written the score to the milestones in my life. But he is only a man, and I too am a man. And each of us has a path to seek out, and follow with integrity.

I'll leave you with my best nugget. People often talk about the "meaning of life." They go to great lengths to find it. At 40 years old, somewhere around the half-way mark if I'm given the usual number of years on this planet, I can say what I believe the meaning or purpose of life is. It is, simply, to grow.

Sounds like this was a profound growing experience for you. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us.

Rod.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10278388264375873614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34080754.post-85998584417360510472008-08-03T10:42:00.000-04:002008-08-03T10:42:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34080754.post-57407556725318860992008-08-03T04:32:00.000-04:002008-08-03T04:32:00.000-04:00Hi Isaac,Thank you for you blog it made the whole ...Hi Isaac,
Thank you for you blog it made the whole tour complete. Every night reading the blogs, Guy's, Richard's and yours was a must. I saw the band in Amsterdam way back in March and agree that the band as a whole is fantastic. You seem to be doing a lot of soul searching and I wish all the best in the future. I am sending you a story told by a teacher at my daughters graduation (from business school) last month. Have a safe journey home and thank you once again for the extra dimension you gave to the tour.
greetings from Amsterdam.

This is a very inspiring short stories that I have just read from paolo Coelho's book of essays and reflections "Like the Flowing River". I would like to share it with you as I am feeling that I am going through the same experience, and feel positive each person who contributes to the world of writing should do.

The story of the pencil

A boy was watching his grandmother write a letter. At one point he asked:‘Are you writing a story about what we’ve done? Is it a story about me?’

His grandmother stopped writing her letter and said to her grandson:

‘I am writing about you, actually, but more important than the words is the pencil I’m using. I hope you will be like this pencil when you grow up.’

Intrigued, the boy looked at the pencil. It didn’t seem very special.

‘But it’s just like any other pencil I’ve ever seen!’

‘That depends on how you look at things. It has five qualities which, if you manage to hang on them, will make you a person who is always at peace with the world.’

First quality: you are capable of great things, but you must never forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that hand God, and He always guides us according to His will.’

‘Second quality: now and then, I have to stop writing and use a sharpner. That makes the pencil suffer a little, but afterwards, he’s much sharper. So you, too, must learn to bear certain pains and sorrows, because they will make you a better person.

‘Third quality: the pencil always allows us to use an eraser to rub out any mistakes. This means that correcting something we did is not necessarily a bad thing; it helps to keep us on the road to justice.’

‘Fourth quality: what really matters in a pencil is not its wooden exterior, but the graphite inside. So always pay attention to what is happening inside you.’

‘Finally, the pencil’s fifth quality: it always leaves a mark. in just the same way, you should know that everything you do in life will leave a mark, so try to be conscious of that in your every action’Pamelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08323698026018912747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34080754.post-46783161539035752092008-08-03T03:22:00.000-04:002008-08-03T03:22:00.000-04:00I'm so proud of you for doing this tour Isaac, not...I'm so proud of you for doing this tour Isaac, not just for how much it meant to you, but hopefully finding out what you mean to others.
